The Dreamers of Dreams
Sharing a new world through art and literature
If I asked you at this moment to tell me a story, how would you
react? Would you tell me about a funny thing that happened to you the other day?
Would you tell me some fantastical tale full of danger and improbable
adventures? Would you sit uncomfortably and hope that I ask someone else? It
might sound like a silly request, but suppose that you humored me for a moment.
The story you’d tell, or wouldn’t tell, would say a lot about you. Everyone in
the world has a story to tell. Everyone in the world has a story they love.
People live stories. People *are* stories.
Everyone who has ever lived has heard a story that has meant
something to them. Most people are continually discovering new ones. Stories
have the power to change the way we see the world forever, and the power to
teach us important things about ourselves that we must know to be complete. We
discover these stories in many different ways. For some, a story found between
the covers of a book will forever change the way they look at the world. For
some a favorite movie can play the same role. Even less-traditional
storytelling media, such as video games can tell a compelling tale that, for
whatever reason, grips us. The form the story takes is ultimately, not
relevant. What matters is the way it makes people feel, and what it inspires
them to do.
We, the creators of this page, have been inspired to share our
stories with you. Each of us has been deeply affected by stories, and our
experiences in art and literature have helped shape the people we strive to
become one day. One of us has become an author, letting his imagination create
fantastical worlds of magic and danger. One of us has decided to be a teacher
who works with special-needs children, inspired by the example of a literature
teacher of her own. One of us is an actor, living in stories so deeply that they
become his life. Each of us have had different sources of inspiration, and each
of us has become a different sort of storyteller. However, the common trait that
unities us is a desire to share our stories with others.
So, as we share a small part of our own personal stories with
you, we hope that you might reflect on one that has inspired you to become the
person you are today.
